From Myanmar I took a flight to Thailand. In Bangkok I stayed with Sira, who I had met through Couchsurfing. He was super welcoming and showed me around the city. The first evening we went to the touristy Kho San road, where loads of bars with loud music are gathered.
The next day I went exploring on my own. I was not allowed to enter the Royal palace in my shorts, so I just went to some markets. From the golden mount I got a 360 degree view of Bangkok. That day I was too much in the hot sun and I felt the heat later. So in the evening I just cooled down in air-conditioned malls.
The next day I dressed in long clothes to visit the palace again. It was impressive how beautifully the huge temples were decorated. I went to see the reclining Buddha, Wat Pho. Again, the temple looked amazing. Then I walked to the giant swing. This time I made sure to stop into a 7-eleven every few hundred metres to escape the heat.
Another couchsurfer, Yordi, arrived at Sira's place. We went off to the floating market and the railway market together. That is a market built up on the railway tracks. It is fun to watch all the stalls close for a couple of minutes to let trains pass.
Then I met up with Boris. I had met him in Myanmar twice, once in Yangon and then in Mandalay. Together with his friend Frederik we took a night train to Koh Tao.
