Beach holiday

Langkawi in northern Malaysia

Mai 14, 2017

For the last few days of my trip, I wanted to just relax in one place. I therefore took a ferry to the Malaysian island Langkawi. With long beaches, some tourist shops and duty free chocolate and beer this place was perfect for my last week. I stayed at a very cosy hostel with a nice balcony. Most of my days I only slept in, hang out with other travellers on the balcony and went to the beach. Then I could lie down in the sand and "cool off" in the comfortably warm sea.

On Langkawi there is lots you can do. I did the island hopping trip. A little boat took us around to some other islands so we could go to the beaches there. The tour was nothing spectacular, but a fun afternoon.

On another day seven of us travellers rented a car together. Then we went to some other beaches and to see the waterfalls. Especially the waterfalls I found really pretty. Besides, it was nice to swim in some coldish fresh water for a change.

The next day I went to the cable cars with two travellers. The days before we couldn't go up because it was too cloudy, but on this day the sky was clear. We went up the hill and had a great view of the island from there. We could even see the Thai island Ko Lipe. Our ticket also included some other activities. We expected them to be boring, but as we had time we thought we might as well give them a try. In the 3D Art museum the walls and floors were painted to create amazingly realistic illusions. When taken from the right angle, the photos actually showed you in a certain setting. Since this exhibition was such fun, we decided to also go to the 4D movie. There we went on a safari ride through a dinosaur park. It was very entertaining as well.

That was already the last day of my travel. Most days of my journey were super fun. I also had some days where I felt lonely or wanted to be back. Altogether though, I enjoyed my trip till the very end. Going to the airport, I didn't get these sentimental feelings you usually get at the end of a holiday. I think that is a good sign. I have been travelling for pretty exactly half a year now. For me that is just the right amount of time. Now I have a flight home with a three day stopover in Shanghai. So I still have a little bonus left.
